Second Presentation Reflection By Laura De La Rosa

Group 1 Gender Inequality :

In this presentation, we learned how gender inequality affects millions of people all around the world on a daily basis. We learned about the history of gender inequality and about events such as the women's suffrage movement in the 1800s - 1900s and how hard women fought in order to be able to vote and have their voices heard. It was an extensive process but they didn't give up and by 1919 women across the country were granted the opportunity to vote. We saw the various turning points throughout women's history and learned about the progress made in the United States in terms of gender disparity. While women's rights have definitely improved we still have a long way to go as theirs still many hurdles and injustices women still face to this day, as we learned from group one's presentation we're still treated very differently in the workplace and are paid substantially less than men. We were also informed on the different forms of sexism and the discrimination against transgender people. In addition to that, we learned about the four types of sexual harassment. Verbal/Written, which are remarks of a sexual nature about a person's clothing, personal behavior, or body. Physical which is inappropriate and unwanted touching of a person and/or their articles of clothing. Non-verbal which is making derogatory gestures or facial expressions of a sexual nature. Lastly, visual which includes displaying sexually suggestive objects, pictures, cartoons, posters, calendars, or computer screens. They informed the audience of the skin-crawling fact that 9 out of 10 victims of rape are female and that the workplace is one of the main areas in which sexual harassment takes place. We also learned about Roe V. Wade ruling which made abortions legal in all 50 states. However, ever since this was ruled in 1973 it has been under fire, most recently by Texas who wants to legally ban abortions. They want to do this to "save lives" but don't realize they'd be doing the opposite since abortions will continue to occur anyway. However since they will no longer be able to be performed professionally, this will not only make it more difficult for a woman to have one but it will also make it increasingly dangerous. Group 1 did a fantastic job at covering all aspects of and relating to gender inequality in addition too making wonderful points.

Group 2 Climate Change :

In this presentation we learned that , climate change is a frightening occurrence, with a plethora of elements contributing to the planet's deterioration. The variety of resulting factors include global warming, drought, increasing sea levels, coral bleaching, and so on. Furthermore, each of these ominous factors has caused nearly permanent damage to the Earth and poses an inexhaustible threat to all forms of life on the globe. This sensation is a perplexing issue that is both harmful to our planet's health and a threat to humanity's future. In this presentation, we learned about the many contributing elements to the fast-changing climate, as well as what society can do to prevent additional devastation. We learned about coral reefs and their importance such as providing food for communities, protecting shorelines from erosion, creating jobs by tourism, and is used in the making of medicine. Coral reefs do all of that and much more, which is why it is so important for us to take care of them along with the rest of the sea life which is currently endangered. We also learned about the effects of excessive heat on our ecosystem. As an example group, 2 showed how fires in Australia have affected both animals and humans in that they both have lost homes due to these instances. They also talked about air pollution and the long-term health effects that it has such as heart disease, lung cancer, respiratory diseases such as emphysema, and long-term damage to one's nerves, brain, kidneys, liver, and other organs. All in all group two emphasized the importance of taking care of our beautiful planet. We as a whole have to do better and realize that if we continue down this path Earth will soon cease to exist. Group 2 made an extravagant PowerPoint filled with beautiful colors, vivid pictures, and highly informative cartoons. They made the PowerPoint detailed yet easy for viewers to understand while keeping it fun and fresh.

Group 3 Infrastructure :

In this presentation, we discussed and explained infrastructure, the several systems that make up a company, region, or country. These mechanisms are critical to a country's economic and political success. We learned the many sorts of technology, their benefits and drawbacks, and about technological infrastructure in general. Solar panels, farm infrastructure, nuclear power, network infrastructure, transportation infrastructure, space infrastructure, and other technologies are among the various sorts of technology that were discussed. We learned how infrastructure may assist employees while also posing a threat to our environment and society. We discussed the impact of infrastructure on our environment, both good and bad. In addition to that, we saw the construction perspectives in other countries, such as China, compared to our own, the United States. We were able to see the financial side of things. In addition, we learned how infrastructure costs affect our society's future and how they affect the country's finances. Biden's bipartisan bill was also discussed in our PowerPoint. We also analyzed data on both the world's fastest and slowest developing cities in underdeveloped countries/cities. We watched some excellent infrastructure-related clips and interviews. Such as the one with Pete Buttigieg, as well as interviews with folks who work in the infrastructure field. I think our presentation design was very on theme with the topic of infrastructure and I think my group mates did an amazing job providing and presenting the information.
